Makana Pathfinder Club 2015

Our church caters for children each week by providing Sabbath school classes for several age groups:

  • Teens (ages 10-15)
  • Primary (ages 6-9)
  • Kindergarten (ages 3-5)
  • Beginners (for parents with infants 0-2 yrs)

The weekly children Sabbath school (Bible study) classes each week contain songs, crafts, quizzes, games and Bible stories.
Children are invited to join their parents during the church service where there will be a children's story for them.

Pathfinders, a programs similar to Scouts, are designed for for 10-16-year-olds  to socialise with each other as well as learn and develop life skills. Run by qualified and committed leaders of the church, Pathfinders participate in a range of activities, including -

  • abseiling
  • canoeing
  • camping and hiking
  • crafts

They also learn to develop important life values such as teamwork, commitment and self-respect.
Honour badges can be earned for completing requirements on specific topics in the areas or nature, craft and recreation, and at the end of each year Pathfinder clubs present awards to Pathfinders on achievement of various skills.

This year’s Pathfinder Club Director is Koto Suri.

Makana Adventist Church has many company churches and that
gives me a great deal of challenge on how I plan and budget to accomplish all requirements
of the classes in our Combine Pathfinder Club.

We have a total of 60 Pathfinders in our combined club, however
the number of interests has increased to 30 plus after a two weeks evangelistic
meeting where many more were baptised.

Pathfindering Classes are usually conducted every Sabbath
afternoons at 2pm – 4pm and other activities on Sundays at 8am – 12pm. Due to
distant locations of our company churches, these classes / activities are done
at respective churches. Only on few occasions a combine program or activity is
called by leaders for all company church pathfinder members to join. This is
when a District or National Pathfinder Rally, Campout or Fare Program is

Our Combine Pathfinder Club is made up of the following Branch
And Grow churches. Evedahana, Kerea, Wabi, Mount Victoria, Farea and Bomana War
Cemetery. Since three of our growing branch churches are located out of Port
Moresby City, most of our club camps are done outside of the city. Also at this
time pathfinders complete all their camping requirements of various divisions.

Our In-reach programs involve the youths & pathfinders
to conduct praise & worship programs with health promotions. Every year we
involve young people to participate in the Elijah’s Project. This program gives
the chance to talented young preachers to preach. Practical Outreach is always
exciting too as it teaches the young people to visit hospitals, clean the
streets, villages and also give out clothing to the needy.

We still have the challenge to reach out to many more young
people who are under the influence of drug, alcohol and worldly influence. We
need your prayers and support in any way possible to enhance the coming of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
